Nature Journaling, Farm Edition

Join Olivia Schilling for Nature Journaling at Campo Farm and Kitchen. We will delve into the details behind the practice of Nature Journaling, learning about how curiosity and observation inspire connection to the world around us.

Our time together will begin in the high tunnel with a fun warm-up drawing exercise and an introduction to plant anatomy using farm vegetables while we enjoy a refreshing lemonade made with Campo-grown mint. Then Katie will lead a farm walk to select and harvest our drawing subjects. You will get time to draw independently with access to tips and tricks to capture your subjects, and at the end, we will reconvene as a group to share our work. Our time together will include a mix of shared group activities, independent work time, and opportunities to learn insights from Olivia’s practice.

Your registration includes your own micron pen and a small professional sketch book for you to take home so that you can continue the practice of nature journaling when inspiration arises. Olivia will also bring some watercolors and colored pencils to borrow during the event for those who want a splash of color in their work. If you have a favorite sketchbook or art supplies like watercolors, feel free to bring them!

No botanical or artistic experience is necessary; curiosity is required.
